Ten Ways to Generate Extra Income

This list is personalized for ways that I’m confident that I can generate more cash flow, but am sure it can be used by many others.

  1. Selling goods that I no longer need. Started my spring cleaning finally yesterday and put some items aside that can be sold on VarageSale, Kijiji or eBay.
  2. Affiliate links: I’ve just signed up with Amazon and FreshBooks. I can sign up for more, such as Udemy.
  3. As Matthew Capala suggested to me, create a newsletter and Kindle eBook with ongoing value to generate a regular audience and income. Note to self: Figure out what my expertise is, its ideal audience and share value – pronto!
  4. Buy merchandise on Alibaba and resell on eBay and Etsy. Ideas: craft supplies, hair accessories. Find popular items with high profitability. Drop-shipping them would be even better.
  5. Learn how to repaint/upcycle furniture and resell. It’s an amazing time of year to pick up scrapped furniture due to Montreal’s infamous July 1st moving day.
  6. Do some of the Fiverr gig possibilities as listed in this post.
  7. Pursue gigs on sites like Odesk and Elance. How many hours are there in a day???
  8. Change jobs. Find a job closer to home so that I’ll have more time in the day to implement some of these ideas. Find a job that pays more. It’s not an easy task to fund this scenario in Montreal because I’m so Anglophone and my current position allows for time to breathe in between projects, so am reluctant to change. It’s an option if I want it badly enough though.
  9. Monetize one of my blogs. Maybe this should be tied into number 3. Use GoogleAdsense.
  10. Freelance blogging for companies that don’t yet have blogs. Pitch them about the proven extra traffic they’ll receive just from having a blog.

List of Ten Steps Forward…

Here we are on day 11 in a row of listing, as inspired by Claudia Azula Altucher’s, “Become an Idea Machine: Because Ideas Are The Currency Of The 21st Century ”. It’s vital to check in with ourselves to make certain we’re progressing rather than regressing. Below are ten steps I’ve recently made to move forward.

  1. Aligned with an enthusiastic community of thought-provoking Choose Yourselfers
  2. Keeping accountable to our Idea Tribe (and myself!) by listing every day
  3. Am writing something daily to keep that momentum going and to sharpen the tool
  4. Reading, researching and listening to endless information about freelancing, monetizing that and any related tools
  5. Took a deep breath and stopped trying to do everything at once, i.e. move, change jobs, take on extra projects, create other sources of income, etc. It was all too much to juggle.
  6. Had slowed down on workouts, so I just started walking at lunch every day to ensure I’m getting some activity in and time away from the computer
  7. Am taking courses that interest me instead of courses that will allegedly propel me in my current position. It’s so much more gratifying.
  8. I’m consciously trying to offer more positive feedback to others; it takes minimal time to be kind, which makes me a happier person
  9. I have admitted aloud some things that have been eating away at me like rust on a Canadian car, which lifts some emotional weight and has helped to start planning for a brighter future
  10. I am tucking money away for this imminent bright future
